Yonsei Star Dermatology is a five-dermatologist practice in Sinchon, Seoul, in continuous operation since 2002. It is known nationally for scar treatment — the Pinhole technique was developed here — and runs one of the broadest anti-ageing line-ups in the city: Ultherapy Prime, Thermage FLX, and a full skin-booster range chosen for the patient rather than the product. This page explains what board certification means for a dermatologist in Korea, how to check it before you book anywhere, and how a visit here works.
What the title means
In Korea a dermatologist (피부과 전문의) is a physician who completed a one-year internship and a four-year dermatology residency after the medical licence, then passed the national specialist examination. Any licensed doctor may offer skin treatments; only a certified specialist is a dermatologist.
The quickest check is the clinic sign. A clinic may carry 피부과 in its name only when its doctor holds the specialist qualification. A clinic run by a non-specialist must be named “의원” and list dermatology as a treated subject underneath. This clinic’s registered name is 연세스타피부과의원, and its five physicians are all certified dermatologists — the training hospital, career and society positions of each are published in full.
The clinic has been in the same Sinchon practice since 2002. It is known in Korea for scar revision — the Pinhole technique was developed here — and runs a full anti-ageing, skin-booster, injectable and laser programme alongside general dermatology.
Who treats you
Every consultation and every treatment is by a dermatologist. Dr. Lee Sang-joo, Representative Director, is the current President of the Korean Dermatologists Association.

Prices are the clinic's published list prices in Korean won and exclude 10% VAT, which applies to cosmetic treatment; scar treatment is VAT-exempt. Where a representative-director tier exists it is stated. Shot counts, volumes and course length are decided at consultation.
Korea's medical tax refund scheme for foreign patients has ended and no tax refund is available. Cosmetic treatments carry 10% VAT; scar treatment is VAT-exempt.

How a visit works
Every patient is seen by one of five board-certified dermatologists, not by a consultant. The plan is written by the physician who will treat you.
Skin thickness, elasticity, hydration, texture, pigment depth or scar structure are examined before any device is chosen.
Treatments with different mechanisms and depths are combined where the skin needs it — and withheld where it does not.
Progress is reviewed at set intervals. Courses are adjusted against what the skin actually did, not against a package.

FAQ
Consultation is with a board-certified dermatologist. Message us on WhatsApp in English with what you want to change and how long you will be in Seoul; an interpreter is arranged when needed.
